Summer moments....

Well it is the second day of fall and I am loving it! Fall is probably my most favorite time of the year in Moab. It cools off, the air is crisp and fresh, the leaves start to change color, football season starts, and best of all we get a short break from the tourist as they start to leave town.
I was cleaning up my picture files trying to get organized for the Christmas books I make Cayden and Cash every year and stumbled across some summer moments that I had not blogged about (forgot to blog about). So here they are all rolled into one post.

We spent this fun filled day on the mountain working on the cabin. The guys got a lot done and the girls painted the propane tank. I am excited for next summer when we will be able to utilize the cabin that we have all spent so many hours building this summer. Not to mention Mat and I bought a camper just last week, after searching for a good deal on a decent one all summer we finally found one but it is to late in the year to really get to use it. I can't wait for next summer to get here!

Clear back in June, we had an crazy fire in the sleuths down by the bird preserve. Just a few days later the river flooded up over its banks! These pictures I took down Kane Springs road on June 11th. It was shocking how high the water was, it flooded a lot of the camping sites and some peoples property. In the last photo that is the top of someones shed! Just goes to show how intense Mother Nature can be, one day crazy fire few days later insane flood!
Aubrey cleaning her sun glasses because, "Mom, the are dirty again!"

The pictures above are also from June, it was a Sunday afternoon and we decided to take the rhino up the mountain and eat lunch. Did you see the deer?

Another weekend out in the Rhino! We went to the 'Behind the Rocks' trail and played on an obstacle for a few hours. I can't remember what it is called but I do remember that no one made it up it. The guys went out like three weekends in a row trying to get up it. I'm pretty sure that Cody broke something every single time. =) Tons of fun!

I'm not sure how on earth this weekend got skipped! It was Labor Day Weekend and we went camping with Deborah, Larry, Kirsten, and my cousin Dustin. We went up to Deborah's Grandfathers property on the back side of the mountain. We had A LOT of crappy things happen this weekend, but we had A LOT of fun too. We had THREE tires blow out on the trailer! It was insanely windy, and cold, like so miserable! But when the wind would die down, and things were calm it was very enjoyable. Larry fed us good, he took his smoker up and smoked a brisket for dinner one night, he made fajitas, pancakes, and one morning he made hockey pucks =) (burnt black biscuts). So after we got off the mountain, Mat and Larry had to round up some tires and go back and get the trailer and the four wheelers. Crazy way to kick off our summer time fun on the mountain!

Silver City, New Mexico

We have been crazy busy around here. I got some crazy funky "cold" (if you can call it that) a few weeks ago. I was so sick for a week and a half, but I lived to tell about it so I guess that is a good thing. My mom, Aubrey and I all went down to Silver City New Mexico for labor day weekend. It was a ton of fun! My Aunt just moved there so we went to have a little party and catch up. Seems like everyone was sick at some point. Three of the four nights we were there one kid or another was throwing up! But we didn't let it stop us from having a good time. We played horse shoes, went and seen the HUGE open pit copper mine, toured the mountains and a bit of down town.

Oh, and I can't forget the wine festival Deb took us to in Las Cruces. That was a bunch of fun as well!

Aubrey went to two new states, Arizona and New Mexico. So she has officially been to every state in the four corners. When I was her age I had already been to Saudi Arabia! I would say it is time for some traveling! Thanks for a great weekend Aunt (Grandma) Debbie!

This past weekend was Aubrey's first fishing trip. We went up to Oowah lake, my mom joined us and it was fun. Jake and Candis and the girls were up there too. We didn't catch any fish (I blame it on the old bait) but I think Aubrey is more of a cast and reel kind of fishing woman =).

We packed up all the fishing stuff and were having lunch before we headed off the mountain when it started to rain, Jo could only find one spot that was dry! She is really quite smart, stay dry and still enjoy conversation.

Thanks for a fun trip Jake and Candis.
Oh and I guess one more bit of news. I no longer work for Wells Fargo, I am now a Zions bank employee. I am so happy with my decision to make the switch, I have a LOT less stress in my life and couldn't be happier with my job!
